Harvesting leaves for Eco Printing

eco print with jazz

It’s such a colourful time of the year. The air is crisp and the leaves start turning amazing shades of crimson, burnt orange, red and even pink. This is the perfect time to harvest leaves for Eco Leaf Printing. Harvesting the leaves helps you to appreciate what is around you in ways that you never have before! Leaf collecting has given my dog and I some wonderful relaxing adventures.

The tannin levels in the maple leaves are perfect for this art form. The leaves are harvested then placed in a single layer between sheets of newspaper to dry. By taking the time to harvest leaves – sumac, maple leaves, oak leaves and many more, the beautiful art of Eco Leaf Printing can be done on a cold, snowy day. Storing leaves for later use is a breeze.

The colours of the leaves don’t necessarily reflect the colours that they print. Nature is beautiful and intriguing which makes creating alongside it such an interesting art form.
