Why we use paperboard tubes

paperboard tube only

When we began Thistles and Sticks our vision was clear: paper labeling and minimal packaging. This idea worked well for our soaps, however when we expanded to include a line of beauty products, finding an appropriate paper container proved to be quite a challenge. Plastic and aluminum packaging is very affordable but isn’t an appropriate fit for a business concerned with the environment and the impact of waste.

Enter, Paperboard Tubes. Paperboard Tubes are a new type of container that’s gaining popularity.  They’re a biodegradable paper alternative to conventional plastic cosmetic packaging. After several attempts to find the correct sized tube for our beauty care line, we finally found the perfect one. It’s size is comfortable and convenient to use, and we can use them with many of our products.

Paperboard Tubes are not like conventional containers. For example, solid deodorant is disbursed by twisting the container bottom to move the product to the surface.   Paperboard Tubes are very different.  It may seem odd when using them for the first time, but once you’ve tried it, we think you’ll appreciate their simplicity.  With a gentle push up on the bottom of the tube, the initial seal will be released and the product will be easily exposed.  If more is needed, simply push up on the tube.

Together, Thistles and Sticks and our valued customers can work towards lessening our impact on the environment.
